Our 4R principle describes how we take responsibility for materials, products and their lifespan.

Almost all of our employees have been with the company for many years and come from the immediate area in the Allgäu region. Long commutes are the exception — some even cycle to work every day. We also source materials and surface finishing from partners nearby. This keeps value creation closely tied to the region, with short distances included.

Our factory building has its own solar power system, covering part of our electricity needs. We consistently collect shavings from turning and milling and pass them directly to specialized companies for processing and reuse. We also source packaging and cardboard practically from the neighborhood — short distances that further conserve resources. This closes the loop already within the region.

At NOVOFLEX, a repair is not unusual even after decades: provided spare parts are still available, we repair devices manufactured more than 60 years ago ourselves. This is due to the design of our products, which are built for a long service life from the very start — considerably longer than is common for many comparable devices. Repairs at a “ripe old age” are therefore normal for us, not the exception. This keeps valuable material in use rather than ending up in the trash prematurely.

With very few exceptions, the materials we process are fully recyclable. At the end of their life, our products can therefore be returned almost entirely to their raw materials. This raw-material cycle significantly reduces the need for newly extracted materials. For us, sustainability therefore doesn’t end with manufacturing — it extends to a product’s end of life.
